Make Your Own Opportunities

Chances – Don’t Wait For Them

Life is full of choices. In fact, everything about life is a choice. Some choices are bigger than others, but rarely is there ever a moment where choice is not present. Although some choices are small, such as what to eat for lunch, other choices are opportunities waiting to be pursued. Some of the hardest choices can be those involving chances for new and exciting opportunities. Chances are rare opportunities that do not hang around for long but, if pursued can have the potential to yield fantastic results. Although some chances fall into your lap, others are right under your nose, waiting to be taken.

Many people think that chances are a gift. They see chance as a mysterious role of karmic dice. Although some chances are pure dumb luck, most are the result of hard work, clever pursuit, and a keen awareness for spotting an opportunity. Being successful is about being able to see chances for making money, making contacts, and building a better life and go after them even when it is unfamiliar, uncomfortable, and unstable. If it was easy to be a success, everyone would be.

Many people believe that others’ success is a result of good fortune, luck, or fate. They see what other people have and assume that it was somehow handed to them. However, more often than not, those people with extreme success and who always seem to get what they want are people who have developed a system for seeking out opportunities and taking a chance on happiness. Luck is not the reason they find success, a well though out strategy is.

The first step to finding opportunities is developing a goal. You must know what you want before you can go about looking for it. Once you have figured out your goal. You have to actively look for ways to pursue it. Don’t think that just because you want something that you will necessarily get it. In life you have to find ways to get where you want to be. Often these paths are not easy or fun, but keeping the big goal in mind will get you through tough moments.

Once you have a goal, you can’t wait for chances to go after it. Chances are fleeting and rare. If you find one, take it. Yes, they are called chances because their outcome is not guaranteed, however taking a chance is better than sitting back and doing nothing. Think to yourself: what is the worst that could happen? Barring death, injury or sever emotional trauma, the outcome of taking a chance usually has some benefit, even if it is an unintended one.

Pursuing and taking chances to achieve a larger dream can be risky. Sometimes taking an opportunity does not yield the result that you had hoped. However, 9 time out of 10, even if the end result is not exactly what you planned for, you may be able to come across other, new opportunities along the way.
