Facing Your Fears Now – How to Overcome Your Fears

Overcoming fears is a process that relies on motivation and dedication. Even overcoming the tiniest fears can help you improve your success personally and professionally. By forcing yourself to regularly move out of your comfort zone you will not only overcome fears but learn new skills and abilities that can be applied on a daily basis. Like a child who conquers a fear of heights by embracing the fun of a Ferris wheel, breaking out of your comfort zone will uncover new aspects of life that you were missing before. You only need to muster up a bit of courage to go along with your motivation, and you’ll be overcoming fears in no time.

Facing Your Fears NowCourage is far from the lack of fear. It is simply placing your fears as more important than other factors. Everyone feels nervous and afraid at times, whether you’re about to bungee jump or speak in public. Overcoming those fears will give you the confidence to succeed over and over again. It may not be pleasant at first, but discomfort accompanies all real growth. If you’re having trouble finding courage, ask yourself logically if your fears are really protecting you from harm or if they are merely nervous growing pains. Most likely, they’re the former. Most experiences you’re afraid of will in actuality provide you with new experiences, lessons, and knowledge that you’ll carry with you forever.

You won’t always succeed, and you should be honest about that fact. But you can always learn, even from failures. You may find out that a certain activity isn’t your forte, or uncover a better way to do it next time. And breaking out of your comfort zone certainly doesn’t have to be as extreme as skydiving. You can make small efforts every day to help enrich yourself. Try a different style of dress or hairdo, for example. Learn a new skill, talk to a prospective client you’ve been trying to woo, or a romantic interest for that matter. If you aren’t successful, learn from the experience and continue with life. Failure is far from the end of the world.

Facing your fears, however large or small, is an important part of enjoying life. Routine can become stale and stagnant, and moving beyond your comfort zone is a great way to spice up things. Plus, you will likely learn more and develop yourself personally even further by trying out new things you may not have otherwise. At the very least, by pushing your comfort level every day you will build up a massive collection of “One time I…” stories to tell your friends or grandkids. And life is truly about experiencing it to the fullest, isn’t it?
